The College was established in the year 1951 and the Founders wisely decided to locate it in the same campus as the PSG Industrial Institute for effective industry-institute interaction.The PSG College of Technology is situated at about 8 km from Coimbatore Railway Station and 5 km from Airport. Event Name: Two Day Workshop on Installation and Measurement Activities of Fiber Optic Cables 

Event Date : 23rd and 24th February 2018

Objectives of the Workshop: This workshop is structured and tailored to meet the current needs of understanding optical fiber communication link and its maintenance activities. The workshop will mainly focus towards relating the fundamental theories of fiber optic splicing, power measurement and link analysis with practical equipments. At the end of the workshop all the participants must get real hands on experience of using Fusion splicer, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer and power meter.

Workshop Deliverables:

• Need for Optical communication and its industrial perspectives
• Introduction about fiber optic link, Cable Types, Transmitters and Receivers
• Fiber Cleaving and Splicing
• Hands on experience in fiber Cleaving and Splicing
• Optical Fiber Cable Laying Procedures
• Fiber cable Testing Using OTDR
• Hands on experience using OTDR and Power meter measurements.

• Faculty working in Colleges of Polytechnic/ Engineering/Arts & Science- Rs.2360/-

Registration: The participants can send their duly filled in registration form along with DD(Demand Draft) to be drawn in favor of “PSG CNCE”, Payable at Coimbatore and the filled in registration form along with registration fee (Demand Draft) should reach to the following address on or before 19/02/2018.                                                     OR

The participant can also pay the registration fee as cash at PSG Centre for Non-formal and Continuing Education and hand over the Hardcopy of the receipt along with Registration form to the below mentioned address on or before 19/02/2018.
